Lesson 5 second part

Our son was a downhill racer so I know what a thrill to watch this type of bike riding can be. I thought this was exciting to watch as I have been in this type of setting.

There are a great number of videos out that can engage students in their learning. I was exploring a large number of videos and found several that I will use in my classroom to enhance the students learning.

I must admit you can get lost in all that is out; however, as with the Internet you need to focus and find those items that you are researching.

My creation

My creation
My creation,
originally uploaded by Connie1942.
The Trading Card Maker is an interesting site. As you can see I had to make a trading card. It was easy to use and fun to create the card. This site would be fun for students to utilize to create cards for different class projects. The title and subtitle areas could identify the subject and a particular item. The discussion portion could be used to report findings.

I also accessed the Map in Flickr and explored that site. I could see where this site would be useful in a variety of different classes.

Lesson 4 Discovery

I loved this picture of a squirrel. We have many of these little critters in Spearfish, and I enjoy watching them jump from tree to tree or run along the overhead lines. They are very busy all year long.

I am so glad I finally am able to get into flickr. I spent several hours at school trying to access the site, and I finally tried it here at home and was able to get right in.

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

Lesson 3

It tooks me a while to understand and then get RSS set up. Now that it is set up, I can see where it will be very useful as was stated you don't have to go in and click on each name. I really want to get more experience on this technology.

I would like to set this sort of thing up for some of my classes. This would provide students with the opportunity to utilize a new technology which would help to meet the SD Technology standards, while learning material for the class.

All of the links that were on the website were easy to use. I signed in then clicked on the various blogs.

I searched for blog sites various ways: 1) I went to my favorite sites and checked for blog rights, and 2) I did a search on Google asked for blogging sites. I was pleasantly surprised that some of my favorite sites were not bloggers.

Some blogsite that I found to be interesting were: www.heavygames.com, www.cnn.com, www.readersdigest.com. I would think any of the news sites would be good, especially with the economic situation and the election coming up.

Lesson Two 2nd post

It was very easy to set up the blog. It was no harder than setting up a new email account.

Blogs can be used by many teachers in their classrooms as students can add their data, thoughts, etc and all the other class members can read the posting and comment on it. This will be a partial solution to the use of resources.

Lesson Two first post

The easiest of the 7 1/2 habits for me will be view problems as a challenge. I like to learn especially if it is something that I am interested in and technology is very interesting to me.

The hardest of the habits will be play. I often get too serious about my learning because I want to do well and understand all the information completely.
I am just getting started with the Challenge. I am looking forward to working through this as the Introduction was inspiring.
